Hmong American Partnership Announces

Scholarships for Hmong Students

Hmong American Partnership announces its Hmong Scholarship Award competition.  Hmong American Partnership is currently inviting applications from students for this round of awards.

Application deadline is February 28, 2010.  Applicants must:

·         be Hmong,

·         reside in Minnesota,

Awards will be made in May 2010.  These scholarship awards are disbursed from the Hmong American Partnership Educational Endowment, which was established by a generous gift from an anonymous donor whose intent was to help Hmong students in Minnesota attain their educational goals.

The Educational Endowment will provide two types of scholarships this year: Leadership and Non-Traditional Student Scholarships. Leadership scholarships are given to seniors graduating from high school in 2010 that have demonstrated leadership and scholastic excellence. The student must use the scholarship for direct educational expenses. Each scholarship is a one-time award, which must be used within two years.

Non-Traditional Student Scholarships are given to students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic excellence. "Non-traditional" is defined as more than 22 years old, married, OR a single parent. The non-traditional scholarships may be used for any educational-related needs. Students in technical, occupational, and apprenticeship programs are especially encouraged to apply.

Hmong American Partnership employees are ineligible for these scholarships.

Applications must be postmarked by February 28, 2010, or hand delivered to Hmong American Partnership's main office by 12:00 p.m. on February 28, 2010.  Each application package must include all items listed below:
