Academic and Career Mentorship Program (ACMP)

HAP’s Academic and Career Mentorship Program is a partnership with the United States Department of Education through the Women’s Educational Equity program. The Academic and Career Mentorship Program serves at-risk Hmong girls, age 13-18, and their families. The objectives of the program are:
- To increase the academic performance of female participants in math and science;
- To increase the female participants’ knowledge of educational and professional opportunities available to them, especially in the areas of math and science; and
- To promote healthy family relationships that support female participants as they make plans for educational and professional advancement.
The Academic and Career Mentorship Program includes five primary components: after-school and summer math and science enrichment programs; one-on-one tutoring in math and science; career mentorship; college preparation; and mother/daughter support groups. Program partners include Community School of Excellence and Professional Hmong Women Association.
