Abdullalhi is a refugee from Somalia. He came to the US over 5 years ago. He was a truck driver in Somalia and upon entering the US his goal was to become an owner operator of a truck of his own.
He worked as a stock person for one of the large box stores until he was able to save enough money to study for and obtain his CDL license. Since 2012 to the time of his loan, he worked as over-the-road driver for a large trucking firm in the Twin Cities. He serves as a long haul driver and it is not uncommon for him to be out on the road for several weeks at a time.
Through our Economic Development and Asset Building program, HAP helped Abdullahi purchase a truck and a Reefer trailer, which allowed him to become an independent driver. His goal is to purchase another unit as this loan is paid off. He would ultimately like to own a fleet of trucks.
