HAP launched ASCEND in 2012 to respond to a serious and sensitive issue affecting our community: the sexual exploitation of youth under the age of 25. Ensuring the safety and well-being of youth is one of our primary goals, and thus ASCEND works with victim/survivor and at-risk youth to address the severe harm caused by their exploitation and move them towards recovery and independence. Our culturally and linguistically appropriate staff are trained to provide rapid-response aid to these youths.
ASCEND also aims to bring awareness and education to the public on these issues through community engagement. The Advocates work with schools, social service agencies, and law enforcement to address and end the sexual exploitation of youth.
