Non-Violence Day
October 2, 2016
President/CEO Bao Vang and former HAP Board Member Touger Bennet Xiong were at the Minnesota State Capital – to help celebrate Non-Violence Day with the Indian Association of Minnesota, the Hindu Society of Minnesota, and the Dr. Dash Foundation. The event, which took place on Gandhi’s birthday was a celebration of a man and his peaceful solutions to conflict and a reminder how timeless and relevant a non-violent path to conflict is still important today.
Community leaders from different faiths as well as elected officials shared the different strategies of Mahatma Gandhi and how those strategies can be applied to current events to achieving peace. “The event was an inclusive affair with many different communities in attendance to observe the tenants of peace and non-violence and celebrate the legacy of Gandhi.”
